• Oct. 25 – Police are investigating a rash of overnight burglaries and thefts involving cars parked at residences on Franklin, Knox, Maple and Pine streets, and Plymouth Avenue.
• Oct. 25 – A saxophone was found and turned in to the police station. Sgt. Tracey Higley said police had contacted SAD 43’s Mountain Valley High School in Rumford and Mountain Valley Middle School in Mexico, but had yet to find the instrument’s owner.
He advised parents whose children have a saxophone to check with the youths to learn if the instrument is missing. If so, they should contact the police, he said.
• Oct. 25, 7:05 a.m. – A Franklin Street resident reported that his garage had been broken into overnight. It was not yet known if anything was taken.
• Oct. 24, 10:25 a.m. – A Somerset Street resident reported that someone had entered his home sometime overnight and taken cash and personal papers.
• Oct. 23, 7:30 p.m. – A Rumford resident reported that twice in the past four days, someone had siphoned gas worth $40 from his truck while it was parked in his driveway.
• Oct. 22 – Steven J. Marin, 40, of Dixfield, received a summons charging driving to endanger and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, two days after he allegedly crashed into trees and a Central Maine Power utility pole on Eaton Hill Road. He is to be arraigned on Dec. 7 in Rumford District Court.
According to patrolman James Bernard, Marin’s 1995 Jeep Cherokee passed his cruiser at a high rate of speed, then crashed before Bernard caught up to it.
Bernard said he arrived to find Marin gone and a “dazed male passenger” exiting the totaled Jeep. The passenger, who wasn’t identified in Bernard’s report, was taken by Med-Care Ambulance to Rumford Hospital for treatment.
Arrests
All of the following are to be arraigned on Dec. 7 in Rumford District Court:
• Robert Gallant, 50, of Peru, on a charge of violation of conditions of release, at 9:50 p.m. Oct. 23. He was released on bail.
• Michael Franks, 24, of Wilton, on charges of domestic assault and criminal mischief, at 6:45 a.m. Oct. 23. He was released on $1,000 unsecured bail.
• Christopher Willett, 26, of Benedicta, on a charge of operating after suspension, 1:10 a.m. Oct. 23. He was released on $200 unsecured bail.
• Carl A. Stritzke, 21, of Harrison, on a warrant for failure to appear on a charge of operating after suspension, at 6 p.m. Oct. 22. He was released on $400 cash bail.
• Melinda A. Ames, 26, of Rumford, on a charge of operating after suspension, at 8:20 a.m. on Oct. 21. She was released on $200 unsecured bail.
Summonses
All of the following are to be arraigned on Dec. 7 in Rumford District Court:
• Martin Lore, 19, of Rumford, on a charge of criminal mischief for allegedly breaking a vehicle’s window, on Oct. 25 on Rumford Avenue.
• Jason Buotte, 21, of Rumford, on a charge of violation of conditions of release, on Oct. 24 on Waldo Street.
