Dear Sun Spots: I am writing on behalf of a nonprofit organization that I am a member of. It is called Ruby’s Goldmine and located in the Oxford Hills area. We collect good, used furniture and some other household items and, for a small fee, people can pick up needed items inexpensively. Or, if they can’t afford to buy, then they are given the items they need.

We are in the process of building a storage place and are in need of the following materials:

Any color asphalt shingles; sheathing; 2-by-4s and 2-by-6s; framing lumber; plywood; OSB; insulation 60, 80 and 100; roofing nails; any new or good reusable materials that are donated would be greatly appreciated by all of us involved in Ruby’s and by those in the area. Pickup is available within a 30-mile radius. Please call (207) 739-2368. – Susan Paradis, Ruby’s Goldmine, Oxford Hills area.

Dear Sun Spots: Cote Brothers Sewing Machines would like to invite the community to be part of our Mittens for Kids project.

On Dec. 4, we will deliver mittens to WCSH’s Coats for Kids program and the Salvation Army. Last year, with your help, we donated 1,135 pairs of sewn and knitted mittens! If you would like to be part of this worthwhile project, we have fleece and patterns we will give you to make them. They can be picked up at Cote Bros. Sewing Machines located in the Auburn Plaza next to Big Lots. For those of you who like to knit, we would love knitted mittens as well. If you would like more information, you can contact us at (207) 782-5922. Thank you for your generosity. – Lisa Cote-Blake, Auburn.

Dear Sun Spots: I am wondering if there is anyone out there that might have any little magazines that were available in the 1980s called Maine Mountain Digest. It was published by The Sugarloaf Irregular. They are wonderful to read. I got a few of them at the time they were published. If anyone has some and is willing to part with them for a small fee, or free, I would love to have them. I have the following, so won’t need them:

Winter 1987, Fall 1987, Spring 1988, August 1988 and December 1988; I can be reached at (207) 778-3737. – No Name, Farmington.

Dear Sun Spots: I read your column every day. I enjoy it very much. I hope that someone out there can help me.

I’m looking for an original remote control for the Panasonic 25-inch floor model, console color television I have. I can’t buy one anywhere. I’ve tried, but the television is too old. It was manufactured in 1986, model No: CTH-2552R. If anyone out there has one, I would appreciate a call. Hopefully, someone has an old TV like mine with the remote. Please call me at (207) 778-2627. – No Name, Farmington.
