PARIS – Police arrested two men after a fight early Saturday morning at the Playmaker’s Lounge Sports Bar in Market Square.
Police Chief David Verrier said Todd Tracy, 36, of North Waterboro, was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault for allegedly hitting Eric Grenier, 28, of Paris with a drink glass inside the bar just after 1 a.m.
Verrier said the glass broke on impact, cutting Grenier in the neck.
Verrier said there was a lot of blood when police first arrived, and initially it was thought that Grenier had been stabbed.
The bar’s patrons were ordered outside, and Tracy was arrested and taken to the Oxford County Jail, Verrier said. Grenier was “a combative victim” when police arrived, he said. It took a shot from a Tazer stun gun to finally subdue him, he added.
Grenier was taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway, where he allegedly continued with the verbal threats, Verrier said. Extra police were stationed at the hospital’s exits as a precaution, he said.
After receiving medical treatment, Grenier was arrested and charged with criminal threatening, Verrier said.
About 30 people were in the bar when the fight broke out, he said. Paris police were assisted by police from Norway, Oxford, Mechanic Falls, the Oxford County Sheriff’s Department and Maine State Police.
Tracy was bailed at 4:40 a.m. on $500 cash, and ordered to appear on the charge in 11th District Court in South Paris on Nov. 22.
Grenier was bailed at 9:30 a.m. on $250 cash, and ordered to appear in the same court Dec. 27.
