The Art Moves Dance Company and the Art Moves Dance Group will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at Gould Academy in Bethel.

Saturday, Nov. 20, Art Moves Dance Company will perform several new modern and jazz dances in a concert at Art Moves Dance Studio in Norway.

The Art Moves Dance Company has professional dancers and choreographers who join together to collaborate, preview work and bring contemporary dance to Maine audiences. Art Moves Dance Group is a troupe of teens, which performs at schools and civic events.

Bingham Hall will be the setting Nov. 11 when Gould Academy’s Performing Arts Series presents an evening of dance under the artistic direction of Art Move Dance Studio founder Debi Irons. The 75-minute show includes variant dances by both groups. The teen troupe has new dances to the music of George Michael and Stereophonic along with old favorites like “CHURCH” by Lyle Loveu and “Moments” by the Art of Noise. This year’s troupe includes Charles Howes, Sasha Campbell, Christa Langbehn, Hannah Brown, Samantha Brown, Lorraine Gedat, Karen Kumaki and Erika Lindstrom, plus apprentices Elise Hodgdon, Sarah Lagasse and Kelsey Doney.

Community members are invited to attend the show at Gould Academy. Ticket prices are $6 for adults and $4 for students. They will be be available at the door. For more information, people may call (207) 824-3575.

The Nov. 20 performance will feature a modern piece choreographed by Joanna Patterson, a dance in the company who teaches technique at Art Moves. The music and movement will keep the six dancers intersecting precariously. Amy Scott, Magi Chapman, Emily Carter, Debi Irons, Susan Brown and Erica Carson will perform the piece.

Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. performance at Art Moves Dance Studio are $15 for general admission, $10 for students. Tickets may be purchased at Books ‘n’ Things in Oxford and at Pick-A-Lily in Norway or by sending a mail order to Art Moves, 13 Cottage St., Norway 04268. For special group rates, call 743-5569. Due to limited seating, only advanced tickets will be available.

Irons is a professional dancer-choreographer with more than 20 years experience. She is trained in modern, jazz, ballet, acrobatics, Afro-Brazilian, street, tap, choreography, improvisation and musical theater dance.
