LEWISTON – Sylvester William McIntosh Jr., of 14 Spring St., Auburn, died Nov. 7, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born May 30, 1936, son of Sylvester William McIntosh Sr. and Jennie (Friend). He graduated from Gardiner High School in 1954. He was in the Marine Corps, a member of the American Legion 2, Augusta. He worked at the various shoe shops such as RP Hazard Shoe, Marquis Footwear, Truitts Shoe, Knapp Shoe. He also worked at Pioneer Plastics in Auburn.

Before he became ill, he enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. He loved best playing his guitar while his friend Charlie played the harmonica by the campfire.

He leaves behind his companion of 10 years, Len Gagne, of Auburn; sons, Julian McIntosh and wife, Donna, of Readfield, Douglas McIntosh and wife, Tina, of Augusta; daughters, Penelope Nichols, of West Gardiner, Elizabeth Hinkley, of Winn, Carol L. McIntosh-Buzzell Jr. and husband, David, of Augusta; stepdaughter, Pam Plourde, of Augusta; sisters, Wilma Weed, of Pittston, and Jerry Roberts, of Rockland; brother, Walter Friend Jr. and wife, of Rockland; dear friend and close to our hearts, Marylou, of Warren; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his father, Sylvester W. McIntosh Sr., his mother, Jenny Friend, and his brother, Robert McIntosh.
