LIVERMORE FALLS – Jay and Livermore Falls’ newest war memorial will be dedicated on Veterans Day at 10:45 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11. The memorial, inscribed, “In Memory of Those Who Served and Those Who Fell Fighting For Our Country,” is a collaborative effort between local veterans’ organizations and their auxiliaries, and the Jay-Livermore Falls community. The Jay Hill Cemetery veterans’ memorial will also be dedicated.
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3335, American Legion Post No. 10, and AmVets Post No. 33 and their respective auxiliaries extend an invitation to area residents and veterans to join them for the ceremony.
Veterans are welcome to join these groups at any one of the services or to meet them as they line up at 6:30 a.m. at VFW Post No. 3335 on Jewell Street in Jay.
The schedule of memorial services is:
7:15 a.m.: Livermore Falls Grand Army of Republic – American Legion Post No. 10.
7:30 a.m.: Livermore Falls Park World War II Monument – Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3335
7:45 a.m.: Livermore Falls Bridge – AmVets Post No. 33
8:15 a.m.: Brettuns Cemetery – American Legion
8:45 a.m.: Jay Bridge POW/MIA Monument – Veterans of Foreign Wars
9:15 a.m.: Richardson Cemetery – AmVets
10 a.m.: Jay Hill Cemetery Veterans’ Memorial dedication – Hyla Friedman
10:45 a.m.: Chisholm Square, War Memorial dedication – Veterans of Foreign Wars
12:30 p.m.: Fayette Veterans’ Memorial – American Legion.
