Eighty-six years had passed since the Red Sox last world championship that some called a curse.
Babe Ruth was quite a character in his day, as the limited camera footage of his life might reveal. If he did put some sort of hex or curse on the “Bean Town” team, I don’t believe he would have wanted them to eke out a victory in the way so many title opportunities eluded them.
Except for their fielding in the first two games, the Sox played with authority for eight straight games, taking out the Yankees then shutting down the Cardinals and any remnants of a curse.
I am sure the Babe would be proud of the way they did it!
