LONDONDERRY, N.H. (AP) – A section of Interstate 93 south was shut down Tuesday morning when a gasoline tanker rolled over and some fuel leaked out.
Some lanes on both the northbound and southbound sides were closed after the accident between Exits 4 and 5. All lanes were reopened in time for the evening rush hour, state police said.
However, Department of Transportation spokesman Bill Boynton said the northbound lanes might close again after rush hour so workers could continue cleaning the roadway.
Driver James Clapp, 49, of Hudson, reportedly was conscious and alert after the accident. He was in fair condition at Elliott Hospital in Manchester late Tuesday.
About 200 gallons of gasoline leaked from a gasoline tanker that rolled over about 6 a.m. Workers spent the day draining 10,000 gallons of fuel from the tanker and moving the truck off the road. Officials said a couple of hundred gallons of fuel had leaked.
