Families in Crisis to hold Peru lunch

PERU – The Families in Crisis Task Force will hold a community luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, at the Rockemeka Grange, 92 Peru Center Road. The menu will include a turkey dinner with stuffing, potatoes, cranberry sauce and dessert. Donations will be accepted.

Cemetery meeting at Rockomeka

PERU – The Peru Historical Society and the Peru Cemetery Committee will co-host an informational meeting with Cheryl Patten, president of the Maine Old Cemeteries Association as speaker. The meeting will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, at the Rockemeka Grange Hall. Light refreshments will be served. Patten will bring information on what MOCA is and give ways to preserve old cemeteries in town.

Arts Center meeting

FARMINGTON – The Foothills Arts Center will hold its annual meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, at the organization’s new office at 138 Pleasant St. next to Meetinghouse Park.

Attendees will hear a review of the year’s work and take part in making plans for the future. The agenda will include discussion of what community arts programs people would like FAC to offer. In addition, the group will talk about the first phase of plans to raise money to build or buy a building to house the Foothills Arts Center – classrooms for lessons and rehearsals, a community art gallery, and, eventually, a small theater.

Democrats convening

BETHEL – The Oxford County Democratic Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, at Telstar Regional High School on Route 26. A potluck supper will be served in the cafeteria and a business meeting held at 6:30 p.m. The agenda will include filling a vacancy on the Democratic State Committee for a representative from the Oxford Hills.

New Year’s party

RUMFORD – The first New Year’s Eve party at the new Black Mountain of Maine ski lodge will get started at the lodge at 7 p.m. There will dancing to the E & I Band, hot appetizers and munchies, a champagne toast at midnight and a hot buffet to top off the night.

The Dec. 31 celebration will end at 1 a.m. Dress is semi-formal and jeans are discouraged. People must be 21 or older to attend. Tickets may be purchased at $25 per person at Hair Design, Davis Florist, and Adley Auto Sales all in Rumford.

Volunteers sought in Dixfield

DIXFIELD – The town is seeking volunteers to serve the town. Needed are a Channel 2 videographer for selectmen’s meetings, a member of the Finance Committee, a Planning Board member and alternate and a Water Advisory Committee member and alternate.
