Society dinner

MEXICO – The Mexico Historical Society will meet for a dinner at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, at the Calvin Lyons room downstairs in the Town Hall. The society will provide the meat; members should bring vegetables, salads or dessert.

Guest speaker will be Joyce Crossland Morgan, a member of the family who wrote “Once Upon a Farm.” A second book, “Once Upon a Farm II,” was recently published and is now for sale. She will discuss the book.

The 2005 calendars are for sale, featuring 12 old barns located in Mexico. All are welcome. The museum is open all winter from 10 a.m to 3 p.m. Thursdays.

Holiday tree

CANTON – The eighth annual Memorial Holiday Tree will be sponsored by Ponemah Rebekah Lodge 28, IOOF. People can light a bulb on the holiday tree in memory of a loved one for $2.

The tree will be lit from Thursday, Nov. 25, through Friday, Dec. 31. Memorial lists will be available after Jan. 1 at local businesses.
