SELMA, Ala. – Lionel O. (Whitey) Strout, 83, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 13.

He was born May 13, 1921, in Maine. Mr. Strout was the former owner of Strout’s Boarding House. He was retired from the United States Air Force and the Merchant Marines.

Mr. Strout is survived by his sister, Eleanor Ridley, of Augusta; two sisters-in-law, Lee Daughety, of Meridian, Miss., and Ruby Daughety, of Montgomery, Ala.; three sons, Franklin O. Strout, of Arcadia, Fla., William J. Strout, of San Antonio, Texas, and J. Lionel Strout, of Selma, Ala.; six grandchildren, Christy Kreither, Johnnie Strout, Belinda Strout, David Strout, Richard Strout and Benjamin Strout; three great-grandchildren, Augustus Kreither, Alyssa Nabors, and Caylin Nabors; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
