PORTLAND (AP) – A 51-year-old woman arrested last month as a suspect in a 1976 Florida murder was married last weekend in a jailhouse ceremony.
Lynne Harrison married Robert Green Jr. of Standish at the Cumberland County Jail, Harrison’s attorney, Thomas Connolly, said.
The marriage, her fourth and his second, will give Green visiting rights and access to information about her case, Connolly said.
It would not affect her likely return to Florida, where she is wanted for the fatal stabbing of Elbert McKenzie, 41, in a Miami Beach bar.
A decision on Harrison’s motion to prevent her return to Florida has been postponed for 60 days to give Florida time to assemble the required paperwork.
At a hearing Monday, Connolly conceded that Harrison is the person Florida authorities are seeking.
If the proper documents are filed with the court, she will likely be returned to face the charges.
Connolly said Harrison made no attempt to hide her identity during the years since her arrest in Florida. She did change her name when she married, but kept the same Social Security number and paid taxes.
She came to the attention of federal authorities this year when a fingerprint she submitted for a federal subsidized housing program matched that of a wanted woman named Lynn Smith.
Green attended the hearing Monday with some of Harrison’s children. They all left without speaking to reporters.
