After working so diligently to support the Kerry candidacy over the past months, it is no surprise to see the Sun Journal’s editorial staff trying to soothe their bruised vanity in the wake of yet another stunning Democratic defeat. All of the talk about moral values and bigoted rednecks winning is nothing but the liberal media elite attempting to de-legitimatize a hard-earned conservative victory.

The Democrats lost nationally because they nominated a poor candidate who ran a poor campaign, with retrograde ideas being put forth by a gold digger who abandoned his shipmates, in the middle combat operations, after 4 months of a 12 month tour of duty.

President Bush won four more years because he substantially increased the number of Hispanics, Jews, married women, Roman Catholics, seniors and African-Americans who voted for him. Superior Republican grassroots operations are the real story of the 2004 election.

Kerry’s win in Maine is “business as usual.” Maine tipped over into the socialist column years ago. Lewiston voters vote for the socialist Democrat every time. Democrats bring them high taxes, high health insurance premiums, declining household incomes and the pleasure of phoning their kids and grandkids growing up in other states.

Lewiston’s Democrat faithful are a textbook example of the old truism: “People get the government they deserve.”

As President Bush’s U.S.S. America embarks on another four years of prosperity, Lewistonians are waving from the dock under a plaintive banner that reads “We Want Our Fair Share.”
