SOUTH PORTLAND – One of the world’s foremost acoustic guitarists Leo Kottke returns to South Portland at The South Portland Auditorium at South Po rtland High School at 8 p.m., Sat. Nov. 20. Concerts by the legend of the 6 and 12 string guitars are always looked forward to by his Portland area friends for his incredible musicianship as well as his great storytelling . prowess.

Kottke’s South Portland date is part of a year end tour in support of his latest release, “Try and Stop Me,” on the Private Music/ RCA label. It is the 30th album of his phenomenal 39- year career. It is mostly solo and acoustic, but includes one cut with rock legends and long time friends , Los Lobos.

The album is a bit of a departure for Kottke in that he relies more than usual on improvisation. Usually a meticulous planner when he records, he just walked into the studio and let this one happen.

He attrbutes this improvisational streak to the influence of Phish bassist, Mike Gordon, with whom he had recorded an album in 2002.

There is much more info on Leo at his website: http://www.leokottke.com Tickets are $30 and are available by calling: 1 -978 -462 -9630 or by stopping by any Bull Moose Music location.
