CANTON – Ursula Louise Rowe Swift, 91, went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 15.
She was born Aug. 21, 1913 in West Paris, the daughter of the late Harry and Annie Dunham Rowe.
She graduated from West Paris High School with the Class of 1932.
In 1934, Ursula married Clayton A. Swift, who predeceased her in 1966.
Ursula was a wonderful homemaker and cook and enjoyed a very active social life, loving to entertain.
She was past noble grand belonging to the Onward Rebekah Lodge #29 and a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club.
She worked outside the home for many years at Penley’s Mill, for Roy Dyment at the West Paris and Mill Creek Pharmacies, and for Clifford’s Rexall in South Paris.
After furthering her education in Brockton, Mass., she worked as a secretary in various offices and was librarian at the Hamlin Memorial Library on Paris Hill, where she worked until the age of 78.
Ursula is survived by her daughter, Connie Tillson, of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; four grandchildren, Paula Kaiser, of Temple, Joan Hakala, of Portland, Donna Ryder, of Livermore Falls, and Alan Hakala, of Wilton; five great-grandchildren, Joseph Hakala, Andrew and Jamison Ryder, Marjorie Kaiser and Audrey Acciard; and one sister, Louise Seames, of Kingfield.
She was predeceased by a sister, Anita Rogers; and a brother, William Roderick.
We will all miss her.
