TOGUS – Linwood R. Draper, 82, a former resident of Leeds, died Friday. Nov. 9, at Togus VA Medical Center.

He was born on Aug. 10, 1922, the son of the late Percival and Flossie (Beal) Draper. He attended the Greene schools and was a World War II veteran, having served his country with the U.S. Army in Central Europe. He was decorated with the Victory Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon. He was a member of Coombs-Mountfort American Legion Post 158 and the Raymond L. Lavigne V.F.W. Post 9459.

He was married on July 31, 1950, in Greene, to Charlotte Holt. She died on Dec. 9, 1989. He retired in 1984 as a rock crusher operator for Blue Rock Industries. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

He is survived a son, Peter Draper, of Farmington; two stepsons, Lesley Ward, of Leeds, and Orlando Ward, of Oklahoma; five sisters, Mrs. Ruth Cummings, of Greene, Mrs. Phillip (Rena) Wilbur, of Greene, Mrs. Kenneth (Rita) Smith, of Greene, Mrs. Edward (Esther) Rose, of Greene, Mrs. Don (Donna) Rose, of Greene; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by four brothers, Floyd, Everett, Frank and William Draper.
