Why a new school? The children have to use the cafeteria as a lunch room and a gym. Many times during a gym class, someone has to go in and get something from the kitchen or the art supply room, which makes it difficult to conduct a class.

The kindergarten class, library and the special education office aren’t even in the building. It makes it hard to access some of these services, especially in inclement weather. Also I feel that the kindergarten kids are too isolated and would benefit from being part of the main building to get used to being part of a group.

The office is overcrowded, the printers and copy machines are in the hallways. They have to keep paper for the copiers in a closet in the girls bathroom. It seems a little ridiculous.

My biggest reason for wanting a new school is the self-contained classroom. The room is very small and too confined for children who have special needs, like my son and some other children in that class. I worry for their safety.

At Farwell we are very lucky because there are some very dedicated teachers who have the awesome responsibility to teach our children. Don’t they and our children deserve to have adequate space to learn and grow?

I know the biggest reason not to build a new school is money. Money is a problem for all of us, but we need to put our children first.
