Hegerich, a business major, was a member of the men’s swim team. He died at the scene.
The university’s crisis response team met Sunday, and UNH counseling staff will be available to teammates and students living in his dorm. Counselors will be available to students and faculty in Hegerich’s classes.
Whittaker was being held on $5,000 cash bail and was scheduled to be arraigned in Dover District Court on Monday.
