PARIS – A Fryeburg man faces a robbery charge for allegedly stealing a bottle of liquor from the local Rite Aid Pharmacy.

Michael D. Giberson, 19, of 28 Morningside Drive, was indicted Friday by the Oxford County grand jury on one count of robbery.

Fryeburg Patrolman Michael Chaine said Giberson allegedly was in the act of stealing the bottle of liquor at about 9 p.m. Aug. 31 when he was confronted by two store clerks.

The Rite Aid at Fryeburg Plaza began selling liquor at its store last November, a store clerk said Monday.

Chaine said Giberson scuffled with the clerks as they attempted to restrain him. “It was a strong-arm robbery,” Chaine said. Giberson was arrested by Fryeburg police later that night at his home after the clerks identified him.

Giberson will be arraigned at Oxford County Superior Court sometime next month, and a trial will be scheduled between February and April.
