LEWISTON – Geraldine King Diehl, 65, of Summer St., Lisbon Falls, died at d’Youville Pavilion on Monday, Nov. 22, after a long illness.

She was born in Portland on May 26, 1939, the daughter of Paul E. and Phyllis (O’Neil) King.

She was educated in South Portland and graduated from Gould Academy in Bethel. She received a bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of New Hampshire.

She became a music teacher in the Lisbon schools, directing middle school band, fifth grade band, and teaching kindergarten through fifth grade general music classes. In addition, she played the organ at many area churches, was a piano accompanist for many high school musicals and student soloists, and enjoyed playing the piano at family gatherings.

She married William L. Diehl on Feb. 19, 1966 at Elm Street Methodist Church in South Portland.

She is survived by her mother, Phyllis King; her husband, William; her brother-in-law, Richard Diehl and his wife, Rhoda; her aunt, Margaret Glass; her sister, Pauline J. Coulter and husband, Frederick E. Coulter; her two sons, Brian L. Diehl and his wife, Julie M., and Bruce P. Diehl and his wife, Diane; two grandsons, Sean W. and Jeremy D. Diehl; four nieces; and four nephews.

She was predeceased by her father, Paul E. King.
