DIXFIELD – Selectmen entered an unscheduled executive session Monday night to discuss a petition aimed at ousting the town manager.

But, when the board resumed its public session 15 minutes later, no action was taken and there was no further discussion.

Last month, 467 people signed a petition stating they had lost confidence in Town Manager Nanci Allard. The petition was then submitted to selectmen, who did nothing with the document.

On Monday night, Selectman Montell Kennedy asked that it be added to the agenda for discussion.

After the closed-door session, when asked by Chairman Eugene Skibitsky if he was satisfied with the agenda item, Kennedy indicated he was.

In other business, den leader Rene Chartier and five members of Dixfield’s Cub Scout Pack 506 of Dixfield observed the board and town manager in action.

Chartier said the group sought to understand the town government process to satisfy their citizenship achievement requirements.

They left before auditor Keel Hood’s explanation of the annual audit.

Hood said that on the whole, Dixfield is in good financial shape. He also commended selectmen and Allard for “doing a fantastic job.”

He also credited Allard with getting more than $300,000 of the town’s money out of the Maine State Retirement System and into the undesignated fund balance.

Hood also scheduled a class for Dixfield, Mexico and Bethel selectmen and town managers to learn about changes in auditing now required by the state.

By 4-0 votes, selectmen adopted a proposed 2005 Water Department working budget of $375,845, a proposed 2005 Sewer Department working budget of $163,502, and annual revisions to the General Assistance Ordinance.

Selectmen also sent a revised road ordinance back to the Planning Board for clarification, appointed Lauren Hebert, Craig Nash and Jeff Turnbull to the Police Department Study Committee, and appointed Cindy Coulombe to fill a Finance Committee vacancy.
