CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – State corrections officials plan to transform the medium security prison in Laconia into a halfway house.

The prison holds 335 inmates, but is running out of space now that two buildings have fallen into disrepair and would cost too much to rehabilitate, corrections commissioner Stephen Curry said.

The halfway house would hold inmates ready to be released.
