LIVERMORE FALLS – Recent appointments in SAD 36 were announced at the school board’s Thursday meeting.
Chris Pillsbury and John Noble have been appointed as educational technicians in special education at Livermore Elementary School.
Mavis Letourneau and Sandra Foss are now 20-hour bus drivers.
Extracurricular appointments include Jordan West Saunders to junior varsity girls basketball coach at the high school, Eric Jewett to coach the math team, Anne Weatherbee for drama, and Sandra Hoyt for the National Honor Society.
Also, Daniel Labonte will be music coordinator, Michelle Merrill will advise the student council, and Darrell Roundy will head the jazz band.
Senior class advisers are Anita Dube, Rick Hulbert, Diane Maurais and Greg Swenson; junior class, Michelle Merrill, Vicki Thayer-Adams and Ginger Stoneton; sophomore class, Cathi Howell, Tom Marshall and Amy Druzba; freshman class, Donna Wilcox and Susan Knowles.
At the middle school, Allen Castonguay will be boys’ junior varsity basketball coach, Don Michaud will be girls’ basketball coach, Barbara Dufour will lead cheering, Warren Forbes will be clock operator for the basketball season, and Matt Gilbert will be athletic director to replace Brad Bishop, who resigned.
Announcement was made of the retirement of Nancy Webster as a food service worker, effective Oct. 25.
In other business at Thursday’s meeting, eighth-graders Kayla Wilson, Lauren Caudwell and Journey Williams told about the eighth-grade trip to Carratunk and showed a video of several activities.
They said the trip taught them teamwork and the three rules – play hard, play fair and play safe – that they still need to work on, Kayla Wilson said.
Directors named recently to work on construction committees were: Eric Rodzen, cost analysis; Catherine Ouellette and Rhonda Drake to inform and promote information; and Ashley O’Brien to work with superintendent at state level.
Also, Jean Tardif for program dialogue with faculty and public; Denise Rodzen for specialized items; Rod Newman and Fred Nadeau to work with superintendent and architect through the process of change orders; and Cindy Young to work with students to get them engaged in various activities.
The Building and Grounds Committee will meet with the architect at 6 p.m. Dec. 2.
Laptops are in at the high school and wiring is being completed, with students are expected to start using the computers after the Thanksgiving holiday. Superintendent Terry Despres stressed they are to be utilized for educational purposes, but admitted there will be some issues. “We learn by our mistakes,” he said.
