OXFORD – St. Nick will be landing his sleigh in town a little early this year in order to host the 13th annual Breakfast With Santa series.
The breakfasts begin Dec. 4 at Pizza Hut on Main Street and will feature chats with Santa, homemade treats and entertainment by singer and songwriter Lynn Deeves. Santa also will read “Twas the Night before Christmas,” said John Williams, who sits on the Rightstart Board of Directors.
Rightstart organizes the breakfasts each year to raise money for its Christmas for Kids program. The events have traditionally brought in between “$2,000 and $2,500 just specifically for buying gifts for kids here in Oxford Hills,” Williams said.
Pizza Hut will be donating food for the breakfasts, and Norway Savings Bank will be covering the entertainment costs, Williams said. Other event sponsors include Wal-Mart, Park Street Press and Williams Broadcasting Inc.
The cost for the breakfasts is $6 per person and reservations are required. The breakfasts will be held at 9 a.m. on Dec. 4, 11 and 18 at Pizza Hut.
“Try to be there by 8:30 or 8:45 a.m.,” Williams said, to allow time for children to speak with Santa and be seated as the breakfasts get under way. The whole affair takes about an hour and a half.
And this year, anyone who has seen the movie “The Santa Clause” with Tim Allen will be in for a special treat, Williams said. Bernard the elf will be on hand.
