OXFORD – With estimates to repair the Welchville dam ranging from $100,000 to $1 million, the town is looking for grants. During the Board of Selectmen’s meeting last week, Town Manager Michael Chammings raised concerns about the estimates and suggested the town get another one.

“Right now, I’m just looking for funding for this project,” Chammings said.

Chammings also informed the selectmen that he mandated cuts in administrative accounts due to a $7,200 shortfall.

He said an increased number of public hearings, special town meetings and advertising for these, as well as legal costs, have contributed to this shortfall.
