QUINCY, Mass. (AP) – An accident on Interstate 93 killed two people and closed the southbound lanes of the highway to traffic on Friday night.

State police said the accident, involving a tractor-trailer and a car, happened at about 9:30 p.m. at the Furnace Brook Parkway exit.

One of those killed was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was pronounced dead at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Southbound traffic on I-93, the Southeast Expressway, was being diverted around the accident scene.

Additional details were not available and the accident remained under investigation Friday night.
