HOLLISTON, Mass. – Normand R. Lamie of Lewiston has been elected president of the New England Water Works Association, the region’s largest and oldest not-for-profit organization of water works professionals.
Lamie has been the general manager of the Auburn Water District and Auburn Sewerage district since 1986.
Previously, he worked for the city of Lewiston as a civil engineer, superintendent of the Water and Sewer Division and director of public works.
A registered professional engineer, Lamie received a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree from the University of Maine.
He holds a Class IV Drinking Water Operator Certification license for water supply systems in the state of Maine.
Lamie is a charter member, past president, and past secretary of the Auburn-Lewiston Rotary Club, clerk of the Lake Auburn Watershed Protection Commission, and former member of the Community Service and Public Service Committees of the United Way of Androscoggin County.
His wife, Susan, is a medical technologist at Central Maine Medical Center. The Lamies have three children: Kathryn, Nathan, and Kimberly; and one granddaughter, Madelyn.
Based in Holliston, Mass., the New England Water Works Association works to improve public drinking water supplies, protect public health and safety, and promote the professional development and education of about 3,000 members in the water works field.
