I am unable to understand where your reporter Doug Fletcher got his information on the flu shot clinic at St. Mary’s hospital. Elderly people, quite a few in wheelchairs, were subjected to bitter cold for one to two hours with no shelter.

The one redeeming feature was that several young men rushed out to help. They also provided wheelchairs immediately to those who needed them. Ms. De Merchant probably did not see the people in line outside in the bitter cold.

The real wonderful working people were the young men who rushed out in only cotton shirts to help people and get wheelchairs. I salute them.

The Lewiston Armory should be considered for any event of this kind. There’s plenty of room for people to wait and be safe and warm.
