CANDIA, N.H. (AP) – A 42-year-old Candia man was arrested Tuesday following the discovery of his girlfriend’s body in a gravel pit.

Assistant Attorney General William Delker said Daniel Champney was charged with second-degree murder in the strangling death of Sandra Royce, 52, of Manchester.

Police found the body Monday night in Candia aboput a half-mile from Champney’s home.

Champney was to be arraigned Wednesday in Auburn District Court.
