WILTON – Several vehicles were burglarized, though nothing was taken, in East Wilton on Nov. 23.
According to interim Police Chief Edward Leahy, Officer Blaine Rackiff investigated a report of a car burglary on Cross Street about 8 a.m. The vehicle’s owner reported finding a small toolbox, which had been inside the car, sitting beside it. There was evidence of entry into the vehicle but nothing appeared to be missing.
Seeing tracks in frost near the car, Rackliff followed them to a second vehicle parked on Temple Street, which had also been rifled through, then to a third on Pleasant Street. Apparently nothing was taken, but items in the vehicles had been disturbed, said Leahy. Rackliff lost the suspect’s trail after that.
Police do not have any suspects in the incidents and they will not be investigating because nothing was stolen, said Leahy. They have no idea what the burglar might have been seeking.
None of the vehicles had been locked, he added. People should not leave anything valuable in a car where it is visible, he said.
