FARMINGTON – Barb MacGregor, RN, has received certification as a wound specialist by the American Academy of Wound Management.
The AAWM is a national inter-disciplinary certifying board for healthcare professionals involved in wound care.
MacGregor has worked in Franklin Memorial Hospital’s Outpatient Care Department for the past four years and has been a registered nurse for more than 18 years. She is a graduate of Central Maine Medical Center’s School of Nursing and is now pursuing her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Southern Maine.
To receive the wound specialist designation, MacGregor was required to have at least two to five years experience in the field of wound care and successfully pass an intensive national board examination administered by the AAWM with questions ranging from diagnosis to the anatomy and physiology of a wound.
MacGregor, who is a resident of Rumford, is also a certified diabetes educator, a complementary adjunct for wound care patients, many of whom have diabetes.
