AUGUSTA – Albertine Poulin, 88, of Northern Avenue, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, at MaineGeneral Medical Center’s Augusta campus after a brief illness.

She was born in St. Benoit, P.Q., Canada, on March 1, 1916, the daughter of Vital Poulin and Valerie Thibodeau Poulin. She was educated in the St. Benoit school department, as well as in Augusta.

She retired from Gardiner Shoe Co. in Gardiner and Lewiston after more than 10 years of employment. She had also worked at Hazzard Shoe Company for 25 years. After her retirement, she worked part-time at Ken’s Variety until 1981.

She was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church.

She was a very special lady. She was a kind and compassionate person. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Survivors include two sisters, Valeda Quirion and Simone L. Poulin, both of Augusta; a brother, Avenant L. Poulin of Augusta; four nieces, Constance Grenier and Jeannine Albert of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Jeanne Quirion and Rita Lachance, both of Augusta; two nephews, Raymond Bineau of Augusta, and Benoit Bineau of Lewiston; and several cousins.

Miss Poulin was predeceased by her sisters, Yvonne Bineau, Rose A. Tondreau, Merilda Paradis, and Alphonsine Lachance.
