PORTLAND (AP) – The Worcester IceCats snapped a pair of team-record scoring droughts plus a three-game losing streak as they defeated the Portland Pirates 3-2 Sunday in the American Hockey League.

Jason Bacashihua had an outstanding game in net, making 35 saves.

After a scoreless first period, the Pirates (10-10-2-2) grabbed a momentary lead when Brooks Laich connected on the power play 16:09 into the second.

Alexie Shkotov made it 1-1 when he ended Worcester’s franchise-record 234:56 scoring drought at 16:27 of the second.

The IceCats (12-8-1-1) made it 3-1 in the third period as Troy Riddle netted his first goal of the season at 4:22 and Mike Glumac ended a team-record 0-31 string of unsuccessful power-play attempts at 12:15.

Portland’s Brian Sutherby made it 3-2 with 3:39 remaining.

Maxime Ouellet made 18 saves in the loss.
