LIVERMORE FALLS – The school district’s new, one-run bus system for students in kindergarten through grade 12 is working well, say SAD 36 officials.
On Nov. 29, the district combined its bus runs for students in the elementary, middle and high schools.
It is estimated the one-run system is going to save the district $25,000 in transportation costs. The system also puts all district schools on the same schedule.
Both Superintendent Terry Despres and Transportation Director David Brackett said the new system is running “very well.”
“I’m feeling very good about it,” Despres said.
Officials are still making adjustments to the runs, he said, to make them work better.
Kids are taking it in stride, Brackett said. Paid monitors, including education technicians that have been reassigned, are riding the buses to provide supervision.
Administrators also have riding the buses to check the system, Despres said.
Monitors have reported that pupils are well-behaved, he said.
