MEXICO – Another batch of wintry weather Tuesday that covered roads with ice, sleet and snow caused a handful of accidents between Mexico and Bethel. There were no reported injuries.
In Mexico, Patrolman Roy Hodsdon said Kevin Jamison, 17, of Roxbury, lost control of his 1993 Plymouth Sundance in slush and sand on Roxbury Road, also known as Route 17.
The car, which whacked a guardrail at 12:18 p.m., sustained an estimated $3,000 damage; the guardrail, $1,500 damage.
Two rollovers on Route 2 occurred about 1 p.m., one in Bethel, the other in Rumford.
Bethel Chief Alan Carr said that Gloria Britton, 44, of Milan, N.H., was driving a 2004 Pontiac Sunbird west on Route 2 when she lost control on the snow-covered road.
The Pontiac, Carr said, spun 360 degrees, struck a ditch on the opposite side of the road and rolled onto its roof.
A truck driver stopped and helped Britton and her passenger, who is five months pregnant, out of the crushed car. Carr said both women had been wearing safety belts.
The car, the chief said, was totaled.
On Route 5 in Rumford, Jeremy Sterling, 18, of Rumford, was driving a 1990 Toyota when he lost control due to slippery road conditions and rolled over, said Sgt. Tracey Higley.
Neither Sterling, nor his passenger, Travis Morton, 16, of Rumford, were injured.
The Toyota sustained an estimated $2,000 in damage.
