LEWISTON – Mary Abigail Vaughn, 85, of Auburn Road, Peru, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, at Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston, with her family at her side.

She was born in Rumford Center Jan. 2, 1919, a daughter of George G. and Fannie W. Colcord Dolloff.

She attended grammar school in Rumford Center, and was a graduate of Stephens High School in 1937.

She married Alvin D. Vaughn on Sept. 22, 1939, in Canton.

She was the Star Route Mail Carrier from Rumford to Andover for many years.

She was a member of the Rumford Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

She is survived by two sons, Ronello A. Vaughn and his wife, Sandra, of Newport News, Va., and Gary W. Vaughn and his wife, Jean, of Waterville; a daughter, Nancy L. Vaughn of Peru; a sister-in-law, Mariette Dolloff of South Rumford; eight grandchildren, Donna, Debra, Ricarda, Alan, Shadrach, Melody, Jamin and Tamazin; nine great-grandchildren; and two great -great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Allan Vaughn, in 1955; four sisters, Suzanna Farrah, Marguerite Perry, Katherine Robinson, and Elsie Oldham; and six brothers, Edmond, Eldon, Oscar, Josiah, Chester, and Ronello.
