PARIS – Two men were sentenced this week in Oxford County Superior Court in connection with a February drug bust on Dean Avenue in Norway.
Arthur H. Chagnon Jr., 51, of 160 Beechwoods Road, Oxford, pleaded guilty to charges of trafficking and furnishing cocaine after police found him with a large amount of the drug and paraphernalia during the Feb. 21 raid. He was sentenced to one year in jail and was ordered to forfeit $889 in cash that police found on him. He also was ordered to forfeit his 1989 GMC pickup truck.
Scott A. Perreault, 23, of 87 Rabbit Valley Road, Oxford, pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of cocaine and was sentenced to 45 days in jail.
Lawyers for both men submitted motions to suppress the evidence seized in the raid. Neither man was the owner of the home where the raid occurred. In Perreault’s case, he called the home while the raid was going on. The policeman who answered the phone didn’t identify himself and told Perreault he could come to the house if he wanted to.
When Perreault arrived, he was found in possession of cocaine and was arrested.
The motions to suppress evidence were denied in both cases.
