JAY – The owner of Ma Duck’s bar has been fined $1,000 and her liquor license was suspended for two weekends for allowing visibly intoxicated people to consume liquor, said police.
The bar is owned by Mary Ann Barker, 52, of Jay, said Police Chief Larry White Sr..
The bar was closed Friday and will be closed again today. It will also be closed Friday, Jan. 15, and Saturday, Jan. 16, he said.
In recent months, the Jay Police in conjunction with the state liquor-licensing agency conducted an investigation after complaints of liquor being served to patrons who showed signs of intoxication, White said.
Numerous people were interviewed during the investigation, including employees of the bar, he said. Sgt. Charles Keene and White conducted the investigation, and the results were reviewed by the state attorney general’s office, White said.
The case was resolved last week in Farmington District Court, White said.
