SOUTH PARIS – Erma L. Holden, 87, passed away Saturday evening at Market Square Health Care Center where she had been a resident since 1978.

She was born on Sept. 17, 1917, in Bolsters Mills, a daughter of A. Clinton and Edith Turner Scribner.

In her younger years, she cared for her mother after her father died in 1937.

She also worked at Overlook Farm in Casco as kitchen and house help.

She married Claude Holden in 1940 and lived in Casco.

After the death of her husband in 1970, she was in poor health and lived in boarding homes until her move to South Paris.

She was predeceased by her brother and sister.
