LEWISTON – Parts of the downtown area were dark Monday night after streetlights failed to come on at dusk.

Park Street and the surrounding area remained dark between 4 p.m. until just after 8 p.m. as crews sought to fix the problem.

The source of the blackout was not immediately known.

Police reported no problems or complaints as a result of the lingering darkness. The blackout did not affect traffic control lights or power to homes and businesses.
