SUMNER – Horace E. Farris, 89, of Upper Sumner Rd., and formerly of Brunswick, died Sunday, December 12, at the home of his sister, Jody Trenoweth, with whom he has been residing for the past three years. He has also been residing with another sister, Jane Stevens of Sumner.

He was born in Hebron, Sept. 28, 1915, the son of Guy and Amy Ellingwood Farris. He attended Paris and Woodstock schools, and he also worked at the Rumford Paper Mill.

On Feb. 11, 1939, he married Josephine Conti. She died March 26, 1999.

In 1941, they moved to Brunswick. He then worked at Bath Iron Works and from 1943 to 1945 he served in the United States Army.For 35 years he worked for Washburn Lumber Company in Brunswick, retiring as a truck driver.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding the back roads. He also enjoyed going to yard sales and eating out.

Surviving are four sisters Isabell Bedard, Iva Bragg, Jane Stevens and Jody Trenoweth all of Sumner. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Elva Neimi and Joyce Souci.
