The Auburn School Committee on Wednesday gave school officials the final authorization to buy 10.9 acres for the city’s new elementary school.
The first parcel is one acre at 151 Park Ave. That property is owned by the Smith family. According to the city’s Web site, the property is valued at $55,400.
The second parcel is 9.9 acres bordering Park Avenue. Owned by Arlyne Sacks, that property is valued at $65,300, according to the city Web site.
Although the School Committee had given officials approval to negotiate and place an option agreement on the properties, it needed to give them the OK to move forward with the purchase. The vote was unanimous.
The land will be used for a new elementary school that will replace the aging Lake Street Elementary School. Voters approved the project in September.
