AVON – Martin “Sam” White Sr. of Avon and Inglis, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, with family and friends by his side, following a brief illness.

Born in Strong, he resided in the Phillips area throughout his life, until the year 2000, when he moved to Inglis, Fla., where he was happier than ever in his lifetime.

He served in the United States Army for four years, then re-enlisted for another two years, before being honorably discharged.

He made a living in the woods of Maine as a lumberman, and then as a mill worker. He retired and found his love of R.C. airplanes, hunting, fishing, gardening and yard work.

He was a very outgoing and charismatic man who will be deeply missed by all.

Survivors include his companion of 11 years, Jolene White, of Inglis, Fla.; two brothers, Larry White of Canton, and Norman White of Rangeley; three sisters, Dawn Adams of Avon, Marilyn Thompson of Mechanic Falls, and Carol Bradstreet of Maine; nine children, James White of Avon, Clarence White of Avon, Rhonda Harris of Chesterville, Keith White of Madrid, Nancy Ross of Phillips, Martin White of Phillips, Martin S.
