Do the American media and corporations deceive us during the Christmas celebration? I think they do.

Most of us in America have been brought up with two philosophies, one secular, one religious, and when they come into conflict, we usually take the secular path because it’s easier and represents a good time.

Yes, some people do well investing the true meaning of Christ’s birth into Christmas. These are the people who take the religious path seriously all year long. They work at religion. Most of us, with the help of the American media and corporations, follow the easier, secular path.

I will admit that the message of Christ is not an easy message, not necessarily pointing to that easy and quick good time that the media and corporations present us with. You can’t open your pocketbook and there you have it, Jesus Christ be praised. The religious path means some difficult thinking, difficult personal decisions, to make the path of Christ reality.

And this difficulty does make it easier for us to forget the truth of Christmas. I guess we could also say that we’re human, and therein lies the problem.

More truth-telling by the American media and corporations about the meaning of Christmas would help. If this were to happen, we might have less injustice and wars in our world.

And that might be something to think about on Christmas Day.
