JAY – French vanilla and hazelnut are among the flavors of coffee offered at Coffee & Donuts To Go, a new shop on Main Street, beside Franklin Savings Bank.

Manager Mary McGaughey, who is also the caretaker of the Washburn Norlands Living History Center in Livermore, said business has been gaining steadily since it opened Dec. 16.

McGaughey said the shop’s main draw is the drive-through window. A bar and stools are planned for inside in the future, she said.

Among the specialties offered is a fresh cup of gourmet flavored coffee brewed solely for the customer. It takes 40 seconds for one cup of coffee to brew, McGaughey said.

The shop features a variety of New England Coffee flavors, including French roast, Belgian chocolate nut, rain forest nut, gingerbread, southern pecan, spicy eggnog, and French vanilla decaffeinated.

The shop also offers New England French vanilla cappuccino and hot chocolate, and an array of cold drinks including juice.

Among the sweet goods are three flavors of whoopie pies by Steve’s Snacks of Skowhegan.

On a recent day, an assortment of doughnuts and blueberry and chocolate-chip muffins were in the glass cases. The doughnuts are made by D&D Donuts in Livermore, McGaughey said.

The owners of the shop, Michael and Anita Linkenbach of Jay, have had major renovations done on the building, McGaughey said. Anita Linkenbach is a music teacher at the Livermore Elementary School, and her husband is a car salesman at Blouin’s in Augusta, she said. The couple doesn’t work at the store, McGaughey said, but there are five employees.

It is open 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday and closed on Sundays.

“We believe that if we honor God on his day that he will prosper the business on the other six,” she said.
