NORWAY – Joseph “Larry” LeClair, 86, died Thursday, Dec. 23, at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway.
Born in Lewiston on Oct. 7, 1918, the son of Simeon and Eva (Grenier) LeClair and had been a resident of this community all his life.
Larry worked in the local shoe industry and at Knapp Shoe for 24 years before retiring in 1971.
He was a veteran of World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theaters’ of Operation with the 236th Army Air Force Base Unit.
On Feb. 23, 1946, he married the former Lorraine Roy who died on May 19, 2001.
He was a member of Holy Family Parish where he was an Eucharistic Minister and a member of St. Joseph’s Association from Holy Family. He also was a member of VFW Post 1603 and served as its chaplain for eight years.
He is survived by a son, Raymond LeClair of Poland; one nephew, Arthur J. Roy, of Lewiston; two nieces, Sheila Roy Woodard and Kathryn Roy Cote, both of Lewiston; and two grandchildren.
