NEW ORLEANS – Quentin Richardson broke a franchise record with nine 3-pointers and finished with 31 points and 11 rebounds, leading the Suns to a 107-96 victory over the New Orleans Hornets on Wednesday night in matchup of the NBA’s best and worst.

Richardson’s final 3-pointer came right after a 3 by rookie J.R. Smith had pulled New Orleans to 98-93 with 56 seconds to go.

Bucks 111, Magic 105

ORLANDO, Fla. – Michael Redd scored 29 points and the short-handed Milwaukee Bucks got 15 points and a career-high 14 rebounds from center Dan Gadzuric in a 116-111 win Wednesday night over the Orlando Magic.

The Bucks, who had only 11 players in uniform because of injuries, got contributions from 10 of them in recording their third straight victory. Desmond Mason added 21 points and Zaza Pachulia, starting for the first time this season, had nine points and 11 rebounds.

Pacers 74, Bobcats 71

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – His immediate future in limbo, Jermaine O’Neal gave Indiana everything he had Wednesday night with 24 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Pacers to a 74-71 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats.

O’Neal didn’t have a great shooting night, going just 9-for-24, but it was enough to give the Pacers back-to-back wins for the first time in December.

Pistons 107, Wizards 105

WASHINGTON – Chauncey Billups hit a 14-foot jumper with 0.7 seconds remaining Wednesday to give the Detroit Pistons a 107-105 victory over the Washington Wizards.

The Pistons overcame a 19-point first-half deficit and trailed by as many as 15 in the third quarter.

Billups and Rasheed Wallace led the fourth quarter comeback.

Rockets 98, Cavaliers 87

CLEVELAND – Tracy McGrady scored 34 points, Yao Ming added 20 and the Houston Rockets didn’t have to contend with LeBron James after halftime during a 98-87 win on Wednesday night over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

James didn’t play in the second half after bruising a bone near his left eye when he was accidentally struck in the face by Houston’s Dikembe Mutombo late in the first half.

James was moving across the lane when he was leveled by Mutombo, whose elbows have dropped more than a few NBA players over the years. James immediately dropped to the floor, covered his eyes and kicked his feet in obvious pain while lying face down as play continued.
