LEWISTON – A man accused of breaking into Saints Peter and Paul Basilica early Wednesday was recovering Friday at Central Maine Medical Center.

Police said Khiron Kinney, 22, of Auburn, was improving at the hospital from neck and head injuries suffered when he jumped from a granite wall outside the Ash Street church.

Kinney and 22-year-old Carl Harrington have been charged with burglary and theft in the 8 a.m. break-in. Harrington was arrested as he ran from the area, police said. Investigators said Kinney was found unconscious on the ground minutes after the break-in was reported. He was charged after he was taken to CMMC for treatment.

Both men are scheduled to appear in court in February to answer the charges against them.
