LEWISTON – Hubert J. Nadeau Sr., 90, of 13 Homefield St., Lewiston, died Friday, Dec. 31, at d’Youville Pavilion.
He was born in Eagle Lake, on Feb. 2, 1914, the son of Noel and Derumene (Bosse) Nadeau. He was educated in Lewiston schools and was a lifelong resident of this community.
He married Sybil Saucier on June 1, 1935. She died on April 14, 2004.
He owned and operated his grocery store in New Auburn, then in his later years, worked for Rolandeau’s Restaurant and Nadeau’s Bakery until his retirement.
He was an avid figure skater and, in his younger years, taught the sport to many local children and adults.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening at his camp on Tacoma Lake where he spent his summers for over 50 years.
Along with his wife, he was a volunteer at d’Youville Pavilion for 20 years.
He leaves his four sons, Hubert Jr. of Lewiston, Paul and his wife, Cecile, of Auburn, Maurice and his wife, Diana, of Locke Mills, and Roland of Auburn; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers; his twin, Albert Nadeau of Lewiston, and Gerry Raymond and his wife, Frances, of Lewiston.
