LEWISTON – The Senior College “Food for Thought” luncheon program at USM/Lewiston-Auburn on Friday, Jan. 14, will present Betty Robinson, former L-A College dean, discussing her recent trip to South Africa and Botswana.

Robinson is well known locally. Besides serving as college dean for six years, she has been active on the boards of many community and statewide organizations, including Androscoggin United Way, Androscoggin Chamber of Commerce, Maine Music Society, Sisters of Charity Health System, L-A Excels, Lewiston Rotary Club, Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, Mechanics Savings Bank and the Maine Community Foundation.

The program will be held in the function room at USM/Lewiston-Auburn. The cost, which includes lunch, is $5 with advance reservation and $7 at the door. Door opens at 11:45 a.m. and the program begins at noon. For reservation call 753-6510 or online at www.usm.maine.edu/lac by Jan. 13.

Duplicate Bridge results

The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on Dec. 28 at the Multi-Purpose Center.

The Club Championship winners in Flight A were Nancy Farmer and Lucille Theriault. Placing 2nd, Fred Letourneau and Rosemarie Goodwin; 3rd, Ron Reynolds and Ray Sirois; 4th, Peter Cummings and Dick Allen; 5th, Roger Briggs and Lucille Bilodeau.

Winners in Flight B were: 1st, Ron Reynolds and Ray Sirois; 2nd, Peter Cummings and Dick Allen; 3rd, Roger Briggs and Lucille Bilodeau.

Flight C winners were Eleanor Abraham and Alberta Turner.

Another game will be held at 9 a.m. Jan. 4 at the Multi-Purpose Center. A partner is guaranteed.

The Club also had a Club Championship Game on Dec. 29 at Schooner Estates. Overall winners were: 1st, Mike St. John and Dot Kelleher; 2nd, David Lock and Jeanine Kivus; 3rd, Paul Barber and Luke Merry; 4th, John Hackett and Ray Sirois; 5th, Mike and Pat Quinn.

North/South winners were: 1st, Mike St. John and Dot Kelleher; 2nd, David Lock and Jeanine Kivus; 3rd, Leslie Buzzell and Jim Flanagan.

East/West winners were: 1st, Paul Barber and Luke Merry; 2nd, John Hackett and Ray Sirois; 3rd, Mike and Pat Quinn. Another game will be held at Schooner Estates at 7 p.m. Jan. 5. For further information and/or a partner, call Lucille Theriault at 783-0431.

Auburn seniors to meet

AUBURN – The First Auburn Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 5, at the Hasty Community Center in Pettengill Park. The board of directors will meet at 10 a.m.

Following the meeting and bag lunch, bingo will be played.

Members enjoyed their Christmas dinner at Martindale Country Club on Dec. 15 and a musical program presented by Mary Murphy Dubois. Pot of gold winners were Shirley Montgomery, Ralph Sylvester, Nancy Roy, Nelson Edwards, Annette Lee, Theresa Greenleaf, Dick Brushwein and Mariette Timberlake.
